The thing about hunting down “all things local” is that most places are hidden gems. So many times I have thought to myself, “wow, if only more people knew about this place…” and with that comes the fact that unless a place is recommended to you, you may never stumble upon it. Seven Shores is one of those places. I have driven or walked by so many times but never stopped in to see what they are all about. Over the weekend a friend of mine recommended that I go and try one of Seven Shore's fabulous lunch creations. After visiting Seven Shores this afternoon, I was left with one question, "why did I wait so long". Seven Shores is a really cool, unique mixture, between coffee house/eatery and niche supermarket. They feature local produce and products from around our area and try (as much as possible) to use local ingredients in their café creations. I was told that I had to try the gourmet grilled cheese and I was not disappointed. It was fabulous! I also had the vegan chickpea soup (Amazing)!

During my visit I also purchased a few local goods that I am really pumped to try; Country Flavour Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chili Sauce prepared by Brubacher’s in West Montrose and Hergott’s Cider Mill Apple Butter with Pumpkin Sauce. If you are ever in Uptown Waterloo, look them up. You won't be disappointed!
